In Annailo's mind…
Photography is strictly a hobby I enjoy periodically. I do not, and would not, claim myself to be professional or possess much knowledge about the technical aspects of it. I am doing my thing, and enjoying it. I am not a great fan of Photoshop, unless it is for playing around a little. All photographs posted here, and at my exhibitions, have only been adjusted with light and contrast – pretty much the same as one would do in an old fashion darkroom.
My favourite kind of photography is portraits, always has been. I am really not into posing, but have been trying that out as well. What I prefer is to stay in the background and observe, and capture people when they are true and real – with their permission, of course. When people get used to having a camera around and relax, the most magic moments can appear. I had the pleasure of working with children for six years, and had the most amazing models a photographer can dream of. Children are so genuin and playful that it is pure joy to be able to capture them through the lens.
I also have a huge passion for hands. I think that a photo of someone´s hands can say more about that person than his or her face. How they are talking and drawing with them, scars, lines… their stories.
The greatest artist of us all is nature. I am especially fascinated by winter and the extraordinary light it creates, the mountains and the sea. Not to forget that I adore trees. Imagine how long they have been there, standing there, watching everything around them. Imagine if they could talk.
